Abstract:

[Objective]To address the complex interactions among multiple solid-waste components, the difficulty in balancing workability and mechanical performance, and the relatively high cost and carbon emissions associated with solid alkaline activators. [Methods] An orthogonal experiment with three factors and four levels was conducted to investigate the effects of fly ash, calcium carbide slag, and anhydrous sodium metasilicate on the performance of a onepart geopolymer matrix, with ground granulated blast-furnace slag used as the remaining binder component. Fluidity, setting time, and 7 d and 56 d flexural and compressive strengths were measured. Material cost and carbon emissions were also evaluated, and a strength development efficiency factor was introduced. A multi-objective assessment was then carried out using the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution(TOPSIS) combined with the analytic hierarchy process(AHP). [Results]The results show that fly ash had the greatest influence on fluidity and strength, while anhydrous sodium metasilicate had the strongest effect on setting time. Reducing the fly ash content and increasing the slag content promoted strength development, but also affected workability and overall benefits. Anhydrous sodium metasilicate was the dominant factor affecting material cost and carbon emissions. Although a higher dosage promoted precursor activation, it also increased the economic and environmental burden. Under the evaluation system adopted in this study, the recommended mix proportion was 60% fly ash, 6% calcium carbide slag, 6% anhydrous sodium metasilicate, and 28% slag. This mixture achieved a 56 d compressive strength of 33.10 MPa and a fluidity of 131 mm, providing a reasonable balance among mechanical performance, workability, economic efficiency, and low-carbon performance. [Conclusion]The results provide a reference for the engineering mix design and lowcarbon optimization of one-part multi-solid-waste geopolymer matrices.
